Grand Hotel du Lac Vevey
Located on Lac Le’man / Lake Geneva, our hotel the Grand Du Lac, listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site, is the title of Anita Brookner’s delightful Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
When nature is respected, she cradles you with the love and care a parent showers upon a child. When left alone and taken not for granted, she rewards in ways that the grass will forever and equally be green on all sides. Vevey is where we find this equality in ample abundance.
Located on Lac Le’man / Lake Geneva, our hotel the Grand Du Lac, listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site, is the title of Anita Brookner’s delightful Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
The hotel has history humming through every corner and corridor, every tapestry and carefully selected piece of furniture and guests here are encouraged to gracefully waltz with the aristocratic life, the well mannered and gentle Swiss people are so well known for. The view from the large terrace of our room in this stunning Relais Chateaux property is hard to describe.
The landscape is characterized by unforgettable impressions, especially of the calm shimmering lake, and the occasional white sail boat gliding past the backdrop of the majestic French alps with their surreal jagged peaks.
Last evening as we strolled along the banks of the lake unmasked, we generously breathed in the abundant freshness around us. The colourful summer flowers reflected the radiance and mood of the happy locals, mingling with their pets and their wagging tails. Scampering dogs were joyously and unconditionally interacting with strangers strolling by, all of whom seemed to have a spring of gratitude in their steps.
We love being here and look forward to our time in the land of fondue and raclette, appenzeller cheese and Swiss trains, clanging church bells and cow bells, yodeling girls in Heidi dresses and delicious Swiss chocolates.
