The Siam Kempinski Bangkok
Located in the heart of Bangkok's premier shopping and entertainment district lies a rare jewel of a hotel. A true Oasis with a resort like feel. A hotel which graces you with it's sheer opulence the moment you walk into it's grand lobby. The Siam Kempinski gives the word 'luxury' a new meaning and embraces you with every inch of the warmth of hospitality, Thailand is so well loved for.
As you wait to check in, your senses are seduced by the cold scented towel and delicious welcome drink. Once the formalities are completed, the ever-so- wanting-to-please staff direct you to your room and gracefully introduce you to the many delightful and unique room features and offerings including a complimentary mini bar with local beers and soft drinks which if consumed are replenished every day of your stay. Another special is the in room guest movies, many of which are recent releases and are for your viewing pleasure at no charge.
The Kempinski has another feature which is worth a special mention. The Lady in Red. These well groomed girls with happy smiles are at your service from the moment you arrive at the hotel until you are reluctantly ready to check-out. Their cleverly styled and brightly coloured outfits make them easy to spot as they are on their feet in an effort to assist guests with all their requirements. During our innumerable stays at the hotel, The Lady in Red has always worked hard to ensure that our stay has been completely troubled free and an enjoyable one. If you do miss her, do remember to contact the Concierge desk for a special introduction to your Lady in Red.
A must do while you are a guest at this stunning city hotel is to take a dip in one of the many saltwater pools. It's fun for the kids as the water meanders it's way on the edges of the grassy lawn, offering the hotel's cabana rooms and duplex suites direct access. We have experienced both rooms and highly recommend them. When cooling off on a hot day or even if you step out for an evening dip, one cannot miss the delicate scent of the frangipani trees which lightly waft through the air enriching the simple yet endearing experience of a swim.
Dining options are plentiful at this luxury hotel. Our favourite is Sra Bua, a restaurant by renowned Henrik Yde Andersen, whose Kiin Kiin restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark, is currently the only Thai restaurant in the world holding a Michelin star.
Here guests are offered a Thai menu with an interesting twist. A wonderful play of different flavours, textures and explosive spices on your taste buds. There is also the Brasserie Europa for European brasserie-style cuisine. A professionally trained Tea Master will help guests enjoy the tea service at the Hanuman Bar, which offers the finest teas from around the world, as well as exotic and traditional cocktails and Champagne.
If you book a suite or an executive room at the Siam Kempinski, you are offered access to the The Executive Lounge. Located on the 17th floor of the Royal Wing, access to this part of the hotel further adds to your experience of luxury. Breakfast at the lounge is a special treat. My wife Laveena has a wheat allergy, so a special bread made from rice flour is baked for her. Laveena's favourite fruit is mango and the staff at the lounge ensure that she is served one at every breakfast. The home made granola is delicious while the signature menu offering a special selection of eggs and treats for the sweet palate makes access to the lounge a feeling of sheer royalty. Service here is of a very high standard and the staff in attendance are committed to make you feel important. The ambience of the lounge is one of peace and tranquility, free of the hustle of a busy city hotel. The executive lounge not only offers complimentary buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails but is also equipped with small meeting rooms and a private check-in and check-out service.
The Siam Kempinski has yet another unique feature. It is the only hotel in the city with a direct air conditioned walkway to the city's finest and most loved mall, The Siam Paragon. With it's endless designer stores, luxurious movie theatres and collection of both fine dining and regular restaurants, the fact that Siam Paragon is just a few steps from the hotel makes one easily choose the Kempinski over other branded hotels in the area.
From the many five star and branded hotels in Bangkok, The Siam Kempinski is by far our favourite and we are confident dear Travel Mango reader, that you too will fall in love with this fine hotel your preferred choice in this magical city of angels.
